The best Doodle of Google yet: Les Paul's Google Doodle

Google has marked the 96th birthday of electric guitar pioneer Lester William Polsfuss ( Les Paul ) with a strummable guitar logo.

Les Paul (1915-2009), for those unfamiliar, was a jazz/blues musician and inventor of the solid-body electric guitar that kicked-started rock and roll.

Paul's work on the solid-body guitar is credited with helping make the sound of rock and roll possible, and he was also a keen explorer of recording innovations.

Google's Les Paul doodle lets you play and listen. In the U.S., meanwhile, users could record a 30-second snippet of their creations and share with friends.

"Due to popular demand, we're leaving the Les Paul doodle up in the U.S. for an extra day. Thanks for jamming with us.!" Google tweeted early this morning (Friday, June 10, 2011).
